Today’s list: 10 questions to make you pause just for a moment, and to help you re-focus on where you’re going.
Whose life do you wish you had?
What’s your biggest regret?
What did you dream of as a kid?
Top 5 experiences of your life?
What makes you go ‘wow’?
What do you want on your gravestone?
What do you think people will say about you?
Do you feel your age?
What’s the toughest question?
With thanks to George Hincapie for prompting this post.
So, what are your answers to any of these? Please do leave a comment…
Nice questions. I hope everyone’s answer to the first question is their own. Do I feel my age? No! Which is why I avoid mirrors as I’m always shocked not to see an 18 year old grinning back at me.
I have always wanted:
Daughter. Sister. Mother. Pioneer.
I better think of something to be a pioneer at!
These questions are really thought-provoking and can actually help you slow down a little.
Hey – great to see Calvin and Hobbes! What a neat choice of comic strip too. I guess you were like Calvin as a child, Alistair?

Isn’t that nine questions? (detail person)
Number 10 could be what puts a grin on your face? For me it’s thinking about being in mid race or expedition. All the minutae of the world put aside in the pursuit of a goal. Simplicity..
still stuck on question 1 so I guess question 1 is my answer to number 10…I’d have loved to have been living around the time when maps still had ‘here there be dragons’ on the parts yet to be explored…except with a smart phone and less bubonic plague…Perhaps Capt. James Cook (with an iphone)
1) My own life will do just fine (although there are a couple of years missing around 18/19 years old that I would like to be able to remember).
2) Wasted time.
3) Running away to live in the wilderness (a dream I tend to live most weekends these days).
4) In order …. numerous jazz and blues gigs with my Mum (including meeting BB King and Chuck Berry), finishing the Munros (and the 17 years of hill trips leading up to the last hill), Mirren being born (and everything since), crossing the finish line of the 2008 Marathon des Sables (and the 2 years of training leading up to that moment), my last hill trip (the last one is always a good one in retrospect)
5) Live music and mountain landscapes.
6) F@ck it … at least he tried !
7) At times an arse but he meant well at the time.
8) Aye sometimes (most recently at a Frank Turner gig where I reckoned I was the oldest guy there …at least until the pub emptied at my lot helped fill the room).
9) On the this list …number 3 but in life “why” – my answer …I need to go with what feels right.
10) Only 9 were listed but if I could add a tenth it would be “What is next” to which the answer would be …working towards a Bob Graham Round this summer (that should keep folks off the trail for a while).
