Last year I spent a week in Scotland making a film about bothies. This Easter I returned to make a new film with my friend Tem. We spent a glorious week zooming around the Highlands and Cairngorms. Our plan was to make a film about wilderness – its appeal and its importance – and at the same time try to introduce more people to the words of John Muir and the important work of the John Muir Trust.
I really hope that you enjoy the film. Could I ask you please to…
1) Share the film on your own social media channels.
2) Follow the John Muir Trust on Facebook or Twitter.
3) Consider becoming a member of the John Muir Trust.
Thank you to Temujin’‹ for making such a lovely film and for being great company on the road, and very patient with my endless suggestions to film more stuff, edit more stuff, eat more crisps.
Thank you to Jim Crumley for the wonderful voiceover.
Thank you to the John Muir Trust for being so supportive of our film.
Inspirational as always. Your videos, books, and photos have a knack of continually nagging my conscience to get out there into the wilder elements.
Another great film Al, great work to all involved.
It made me a little homesick for the wild parts of the UK.
Thanks
Having just spent 3 weeks in the Highlands and the Cairngorms this summer, this is a beautiful reminder that we only saw a small portion of all the beauty to be had. I am curious which beach were you on where you walked along the sand dunes? Thank you Heather
It’s Sandwood Bay.
Now just read 2 of your books Excellent and many thanks. Are you giving lectures to Camera Clubs or maybe Scottish Geographic Society thank you Colin
Thank you! I don’t have any events like that scheduled at the moment – sorry.
Hi Alastair, loved this film. Been following your blog for many years now. I noticed it was released in 4K on Vimeo and was just wondering what you shot it on? All of your previous films have been on the XF100 so 4K is a big step up which added to the brilliance of this film!
Thanks very much, hopefully see you again at the Night of Adventure,
Ed
Hi Ed,
It was filmed by Temujin Doran on his Samsung camera.
Thanks Alastair! Been loving your films recently, have you thought about going to Patagonia? I would love to see one of your films about that place!
I cycled through but would love to return with a camera…
Amazing landscapes and a lovely professional film, Really well done. Love this blog. Keep up the great work.
Happy travel
