Every month I visit the Lake District to spend a day running in the hills. It’s good for the body, good for the head, good for the soul. I film the run and chat to myself about whatever feels important that day.
Today: learning to enjoy now.

A belated Happy Birthday!
It looked like a fantastic day. The hills must have been deservedly smiling on you.
Thank you!
Happy Birthday! I to just turned 40 and I’m off to the mountains next week. I feel like I can relate to your feelings in the video. Have a good one!
I would have never guessed you were 40! Your boyish enthusiasm and exuberance for the adventure many of us adored, but have now lost in older age, is both inspiring and contagious! It goes to show you are only as old as you feel.
Happy Birthday old man! Hope I’m as spritely at 40. Enjoy the next 40 years. Best wishes.
Cool film. Happy birthday.
2 questions:
-what mountain was it?
-did you film all that yourself or was there a camera man/woman?
Blencathra.
Did it all myself.
Cool – thanks!
Great video. I can really appreciate the work that went into filming that alone. Some of those shots were pretty far away. Lots of running up hills twice.
Great video Alastair. I’m currently on a world bike tour, on the road for the last year. You had a great influence on me deciding to do this. Thank you for it and for continuing to do what you do.
Great vid Al, stunning shots. Happy birthday wishes mate.
Just goes to show how you can work around your family and still get out somewhere remote – no excuses people!
Happy Birthday Alastair! I’m going to the Lake District three weeks on Friday – not that I’m counting down or anything, haha! Your video is breathtaking by the way! What a way to spend the big 4-0 🙂
Is this the video you told me to watch in the office the other day Rich? It’s amazing! Happy belated Birthday too Alastair.
Happy 40th Al, and here’s to an awesome year ahead! Brilliant and inspiring to spend your day in the mountains. Cheers!
