Publishing for the iPad

On Foot Across India
By Alastair Humphreys

A quick update to last week’s article on why I have returned to self-publishing
I wanted to tell my India story in lots of different ways, as a book, my first foray into the world of Kindle, as a mappazine, a photo book and a coffee-stained print out. (See them here).

It’s been a heck of a lot of work, but it has been satisfying.
Of all the recent changes to how we can access books, none has been more pleasingly simple and beautiful than the iPad. So I decided to convert my photo book into an iPad format.

I’mm blogging this not to try to make more sales (click on the preview button in the badge above to view the book for free), but to emphasise once again how very easy it is nowadays for non-famous, non-talented, non-rich people to make stuff that looks lovely and tells a great story.
Get on with it today – tell your story! Make something beautiful!

There are more profitable ways of making books than Blurb, but it was so simple that it served as a great debut for me into the world of iPad photo stories.
I have a feeling that I’mm going to be making plenty more of these. At £1.99 they are good value for readers (I get 50p of that) and simple for authors.
