Sean Conway took time out from flaunting his glorious beard and hanging out with celebs like Jason Donovan to do a quick Twitter interview with me.
I began by asking him about the party that followed his epic swim up the length of Britain.
@Al_Humphreys It was a great welcome home party. Turns out Im a massive lightweight. ha.

@Al_Humphreys My longest swim was 3 miles before I started. I wish I had trained more. It took a while to get my style sorted & acclimatise.

@Al_Humphreys Jumping in at the deep end meant it could only get easier. If I actually knew the hardships ahead I might not have started 🙂

ha! That is a sentiment I know well! @Conway_Sean

@Al_Humphreys I wanted to do the swim because I was told it couldnt be done & I was going to to die trying. #WantedToProveThemWrong

@Al_Humphreys The GB coastline is incredible. Scotland especially. Felt like Jurassic Park at times. I'd go for days without seeing anyone.

@Conway_Sean I think it's really important to remind people in Britain how wild and beautiful and epic parts of our little country are.

@Al_Humphreys I wanted to cycle the world fast to push myself physically. I get more from endurance adventures than exploration ones.
— Sean Conway (@Conway_Sean) November 15, 2013
@Al_Humphreys Swimming is fun, just not in the cold. 🙂 I still love cycling and cant wait to go for a big ride soon.

@Al_Humphreys I did climb Kilimanjaro in a penguin suit. It seemed like a good idea at the time. http://t.co/b8eDq3W9Ym

@Al_Humphreys I'd like to think I'm quite creative so trying new things keeps me going.

@Al_Humphreys Haha. I'm going to shave the beard off live on BBC for children in need in a few weeks.

@Al_Humphreys Interview Martin Strel. He's my hero.
— Sean Conway (@Conway_Sean) November 15, 2013
Thank you, Sean, for your time.
I’mm off now to try to persuade the ‘greatest marathon swimmer in the world’, Martin Strel, to answer my questions next time…
Lovely wee “microinterview” indeed! That “Kilimanjaro in a penguin suit” and “mortifying mullet” almost made me combing Google for evidence… 😉
Jokes aside! Remarkable achievment indeed and certainly worth pointing out and promoting the beauty of your home country! Only can speak about Scotland, but that’s already amazingly stunning!!
Hoping to cycle the route myself next year…
