Shouting from my Shed – Volume 10

This is now the 10th new-style newsletter I have sent out. I am curious to learn about is one asking whether you prefer my usual long, rambling newsletters, or one that gets to the point and just gives you a burst of good stuff straightaway, like this:

  • A good article: ‘œThe earlier you can admit you don’t know everything, the more time you have to learn new things and make a richer life.’ Amen to that!
  • An adventure film that, rightly, asks “How could you not want to do this?”: Travel to the Amazon, live with an indigenous community, learn how to build a dugout canoe, then take that canoe on a journey‘¦
  • A journey to follow: genuinely epic in scope, articulate in its telling, Paul Salopek’s 21,000 mile journey in the footsteps of our human ancestors is a decade-long experiment in slow journalism. Moving at the beat of his footsteps, it is a reminder that, if we choose to slow down and observe carefully, we also can rediscover our world. Paul also has a monthly newsletter.

Thank you.

I enjoy hearing all your feedback on my newsletters (and on my books, blogs etc.). Just hit ‘reply’ and I’mll get your message.

Cheers!

Alastair

  1. Given a choice of a long rambling newsletter or a dot-list of references I’d take the former. We’re inundated with people throwing out nothing but references to other people’s content, and straight lists of pointers could come from anywhere or anyone, or just a bot that trawls websites. I read your newsletter because I like reading what you write and how you write it
