The Strathpuffer

The Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain bike race started in 2005 – it was meant to be a one off local event but six years later it is a national event with a legendary status. The race was included in the US Bike magazine’s Top 10 Toughest Mountain Bike events on the planet.

Over the years they have had every possible type of weather conditions – gales that blew away the marquee, iced roads, 2ft of snow the week before the event, temperatures down to minus 10 degrees, rain, hail and even sunshine…
You get the picture.
But then if they insist on staging a 24 hour event in the Highlands of Scotland in the middle of winter what do they expect?

And I’mm doing it! (*gulp*)
I’mm chuffed to be part of team howies but also a bit daunted that my other team-mates (Ruben, David and Hazel) all seem to be “proper” cyclists. It’s always good to start getting your excuses in early…

I’mll keep you posted with how we get on.

I don’t shave my legs, wear hipster jeans but I did just have a bit of a debate about exactly what a spocket is….
