UPDATE: Here is the adventure’s website.
I’mm delighted to be working with National Geographic and Talisker whisky in putting together a fantastic adventure challenge on the Isle of Skye.
Skye is beautiful, one of my favourite places in Britain.
And we are looking for three intrepid souls to take on an adventure challenge that will see you kayaking, road biking, trekking, sailing, mountain biking, rowing and climbing on a 5-day journey around the island.
It’s taking place between May 5th and 11th. Applications end soon!
You need to be fit, but not absurdly fit. We are looking for ‘ordinary’ people to take on this extraordinary challenge. If you’re even a little bit tempted, please fill in this questionnaire. It only takes a few minutes, and the reward could be a truly fabulous adventure.
Transport to and from Skye, accommodation, and equipment such as bikes, kayaks and climbing gear are all provided free of charge.
So give it a go! Apply now.
Just submitted my application! I’m having trouble containing my excitement over here. I literally stood up at my desk, said, “I need to go apply for an adventure” to my officemates, and walked to the nearest coffee shop to fill out the form. I
t’s a cloudy, cold, damp day here in Wisconsin. Quite similar to the current weather in Skye. Perfect for a long afternoon walk π
Good luck!
I would have loved to apply but there is no way I can take the time off work in May. That was the first thing I checked when I first saw your tweet about this.
Good luck to anyone applying!
Any chance you’d consider taking a couple? This looks like an incredible experience that my partner and I would love to experience at some point. Just curious. Maybe you’d consider doing a couples version in the future if not now. π
Looks like a great Adventure. pic of the Boat is actually Plockton on the mainland and Not Skye. ‘
Hi ‘Malcolm’ – sorry! It’s such a nice pic that I had to squeeze it in…
Hi! I am very excited at the possibility of an adventure! But sadly, it maybe over before it began… the survey monkey isn’t working for my application?
Hi Holly
I’m sorry about that. It works fine on my computer…
Al
Hi! I have seen the opportuity too late! I am dsappointed but I hope there will have new occasions. Enjoy the trip!
Adrien
This is brilliant! Already cleared it with upper management (my wife) and bags can be packed in 5 minutes. Thanks for putting the message out there.
Count. Me. In.
Applied! I guess, that’s a one-time-in-life-oportunity. π Would have been quite stupid to not at least try it π
I’m so keen for this. Applied yesterday – do you know when we can expect to hear back?
end of this week…
Alastair, I have submitted my application and am wondering when selected participants will be notified? Cheers, Luke
end of this week…
Cheers, Alastair.
Awww! I wonΓ’β¬β’t be anywhere near Britain for that adventure. so I canΓ’β¬β’t apply but it certainly looks amazing!
I’d love to see “Wisconsin” Steve make it. The guys at Talisker would surely crack open a couple of extra drams to honour such commitment to the spirit of adventure.
Thanks for the vote π Seeing your comment made my day!
PS: I promise I don’t know Ian!
All fingers crossed ! π
Was the team already made?
Suspense is going to kill me ! :-p
Hi Benoit, the final choice is going to be made probably today. Good luck!
I learnt that I would not be of the adventure ..
No problem, I am going to improve my English and to stay ready in case you would need another tester of adventure !
Enjoy , maybe next time can be π
Hi Al,
Are the results announced ?
Such an amazing opportunity for ordinary people…Good Luck to all prospective adventurers!
Thanks for giving us ‘ordinary’ folks a chance to apply for something extraordinary. Even the excitemnt of applying had brightened up a dreary couple of weeks. All the best folks!
It’s too much stress ahah! I am at work and I keep refreshing my mails! good luck to all applicants π
Same Here. Either looking at the comments here or refreshing my mail π
He’s testing us. Some of us are failing. Too needy, too impatient! We’re being very un-dude like (Big Lebowski reference). Let’s keep our cool and be ready when Al’s ready.
π
Hi!
Sorry to say Al – I have to cancel my aplication for Talisker Storm Adventure. I chose another project 1-5.05.2014.
All the best on Skye trail!!!

Vislav
I’m on Skye just now so I guess I should probably just be picked for ease sake!! π

Ooops….double whammy message! I should learn technological patience!
Hey Rachel, if you need some help with the technology and you’re in Skye, drop by Dunvegan and see if Danny MacAskill is home. He seems pretty handy with computers these days! Best of luck with your entry. You, me, Γ’β¬ΕWisconsinΓ’β¬Β Steve and 1 other would be an awesome team.
I hope “Wisconsin” Steve retains this nickname for life! and yep…..fairly awesome team it would be!!
Congrats on the Huckberry Grant, Ian! Have an outstanding adventure.
Oops, sorry! It was another Ian.
I’m flattered you mixed me up with Ian MacLellan. Another adventure competition, another judging dilemma for Alastair. See bit.ly/1jL9oBf for details; I know I’ll be applying next year.
I applied for the Huckberry Grant as well, which I discovered before this competition. I will still go on the adventure I submitted for that, just on my own dime. This Isle of Skye adventure is what I really want to win though π
Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has heard back yet? I’m still waiting, ans hoping…:)
I’ve even started to check my spam folder, just in case I missed anything….

Hi,
I’m sorry for any confusion here.
The team has been chosen, so if you have not heard I am afraid you weren’t picked.
Sorry! And thank you for entering,
Alastair
