I spoke recently at a TEDx event. My talk was called Why Not? – Motivation & 5 to 9 Thinking. I describe how thinking “Why not?” led me to cycle round the world and subsequently build a career doing the things I loves most: tackling expeditions in the world’s wild places and writing books about them.

Very well done Alastair. I liked this talk very much as you go throught topics (experieneces) very smoothly finishing with microadventure idea.
Probably the best one I saw from you. ;-D
You are getting better and better.
Thoroughly enjoyed the talk! You have certainly got me thinking about the 5-9 rather than 9-5.
I was supposed to be in Wales this weekend mountain biking, but a broken car has put paid to that plan! Rather than be disappointed, im going to take the road bike from my front door and see where i end up in 12 hours, camp over and cycle back! No planning, just cycle!
Fantastic! Wonderfully articulated from an “everyman’s” point of view. Encouraging to see an accomplished adventurer drawing others into the spirit of adventure rather than trying to elevate himself above them on the merit his experiences.
Keep up the great work, Alastair!
Alastair, well done! Very much enjoyed the narrative thread you wove elegantly.
This video isn’t working! Not on an ipad anyway…. Can we get it sorted?
….scrap that – it’s fine!
