A Snapshot of India
In our age where “new media” and expeditions fuse ever more seamlessly together it is important to be able to generate material to share online that is both interesting for the viewer and simple to produce. I am interested in combining photography with one-take audio clips (so that no editing is needed and so that the end product retains authenticity over polish) and making audio slideshows.
I like using Flickr to host these as the videos there are limited to 90seconds. It concentrates the mind and is short enough to fit with 21st century attention spans!
Here, I have combined 90 seconds of my stream-of-consciousness commentary from my walk through India with vaguely relevant photographs. There are obvious flaws: there is no particular story to this clip and the images do not match what I am talking about. However I made this clip as an experiment just to see how quickly I could put together something to give a flavour of a day on the road. This piece took 10 minutes to make. What do you think of it?

In 1932 Bob Graham ran 42 Lakeland peaks in 24 hours. For three decades nobody could match his feat. Even today only 17 people have managed the ‘Bob Graham Round’ in winter. It is with good reason that it has been dubbed ‘England’s Everest’.
