"Becoming Paralysed isn't all Serious!"

In the last few months I have really enjoyed working alongside Phil Packer, training for our attempt to row the English Channel together. Phil is a soldier, and he was paralysed in Iraq last year.

I have been so impressed with his courage, determination and good humour. Another person who is similarly inspiring is Karen Darke. Karen was a keen runner, climber and all round outdoor addict, and then at the age of 21, she fell off a cliff and became paralysed from the chest down.

Her adventures since then put to shame the majority of able-bodied ‘adventurers’. Karen is now beginning a speaking tour which will see her speaking at venues around the UK over the next three months. I really recommend you having a look here to see if she is speaking at a venue near you.

In Karen’s own words,

“I hope you’ll get inspired to go after your own wildest ideas, and hopefully laugh a bit too (becoming paralysed isn’t all serious!).”
