It all began in 2003 with the dream of living and working on all seven continents of the world before the age of 30.
Now that Hap Cameron has ticked off six of the seven, Africa is his final continent.
He wanted to mark the completion of his goal by creating a project entirely different to his experience of other continents in an attempt to give back to the world that has been so kind to him along the way.
The Final Continent Expedition (FCE) combines the human-powered simplicity of cycle touring with the beauty of volunteer work to create a lasting impact, helping improve mobility of a community in need.
Teaming up with charity Bicycles for Humanity, Hap and his Final Continent Expedition team are raising the twelve thousand dollars needed to send a sea container of disused bikes to a village in southern Africa. Upon arrival, the container will be transformed into a bike workshop, not only supplying bikes to orphans and aid workers, but becoming a self-sustainable business run by locals, for locals. Hap and the FCE team will work with Bicycle Empowerment Network Namibia to implement the workshop and train locals to maintain the business.
